The Chiropractors

Dr. Steve Davison

Clinic Director - BSc (Hons) MSc (Chiro) MPhil DC Doctor of Chiropractic

Steve originally studied Immunology at Kings College in London before moving to the University of Cambridge to study developmental genetics.

He was drawn to chiropractic after a devestating back injury left him imobile and in constant pain.

Experiencing the results (chiropractic succeeded where every other treatment had failed) was enough to convince him to go back to university and study chiropractic. He graduated in 2001 and founded the Spinal Health Clinic along with Jo Lancaster in the same year.

Dr. Joanne Lancaster

Clinic Director - BSc (Hons) RN MSc (Chiro) DC Doctor of Chiropractic

Jo Lancaster completed a Bsc (Hons) degree in Nursing Studies at The University of Surrey in 1998. She worked in A&E, and became very interested in Chiropractic after she hurt her knee on the netball court. She was so impressed by the power of Chiropractic, she decided to retrain and returned to university to study for an Msc in Chiropractic. After qualifying in 2001, she co-founded The Spinal Health Clinic.

In 2005, her practice was predominantly full of ‘baby patients’ and so Jo became known as The Baby Chiropractor. She now specialises in providing chiropractic for babies suffering from colic, constipation, wind, reflux and babies who are unsettled. She has seen some amazing results.

Jo also founded Rolaround baby massage and runs classes for parents.  Her and the Rolaround team teach parents techniques that can help alongside Chiropractic care and on their own.

Since early 2007, Jo has reduced her clinical hours to concentrate on growing The Spinal Health Clinic brand. She still sees her wellness patients and babies on Saturdays at the Brentwood Clinic.

Dr. Matthew Poulter

Senior Chiropractor - BSc (Hons) (Chiro) DC Doctor of Chiropractic

My passion for Chiropractic started when I was doing work experience at Oxford United FC. Players with back complaints would be sent to a local Chiropractor and they’d return with the problem resolved. I then went to observe Dr Rupert Molloy in Oxford, and haven’t looked back since.

My background is based around sports injuries but having spent four years working in family-based clinics, I’ve developed skills in all fields, especially paediatrics. I love the variety of patient’s under my care at The Spinal Health Clinic: my youngest patient is 10 days old and the oldest is 93! I also like the challenge of patients presenting with multiple complaints: I take a lot of pleasure from getting to the underlying cause of the problems and  watching them improve.

My aim for any patient is to not only get rid of their back or neck pain, headache or pins and needles, but to then strengthen and maintain the spine so they minimise the chances of the symptoms returning. I’ve applied the same principles to myself and my family and we all get regularly adjusted to ensure we stay fit and healthy!

Dr Dean Blackstock

DC Doctor of Chiropractic

My main interests have always been sporting; engaging in a wide variety of activities including football and athletics.

I originally trained in sports therapy and worked with sportswomen/men of all abilities. However my interest in the human body, how it functions (and sometimes doesn't function) added to my own experiences in health and wellness led me to the McTimoney college of Chiropractic based in Oxfordshire.

Having Qualified with a degree I spent a year in a multi-practitioner clinic in London expanding my clinical thinking, before setting up a sports injury clinic.

Having joined the Spinal Health Clinic team in June 2006 I have honed my clinical skills and now preside over a fantastic list of patients from all ages and walks of life both sporting and non-sporting.

My aim along with my team here at the Spinal Health Clinic is to give my patients highly effective and outstanding care, maximising their experience here with us, which helps them meet their need for pain free optimal health and well-being.

Dr  Grayson Nolan

DC Doctor of Chiropractic

Heralding from one of the largest family of chiropractors in New Zealand, I have experienced the benefits of chiropractic from a young age.

I was amazed at the stories I heard from patients, including my fathers passion for chiropractic and the body's innate wisdom that sparked my fire for chiropractic.  I was inspired by how many of my fathers patients had looked for medical help and not finding help had turned to chiropractic with phenomenal results.  It was my attendance at one of the largest seminars in the world that fuelled my passion even further leading to my enrolment and completion of pre-clinical diploma in chiropractic and bachelors degree in Physiology.

I undertook a four year sabbatical and travelled the globe to identify the best international chiropractic college, which resulted in my graduation from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth in 2007.

Following my graduation I joined The Spinal Health Clinic in January 2008.  I am enthusiastic in helping my patients not only to get rid of their pain but to encourage them in maintaining their health.

Sue Groves

Massage Therapist

My name is Sue and I am one of the newest members of The Spinal Health Clinic, however due to the welcoming nature of the team I feel like I have been here for years.

The Clinic is full of energy and patient care is paramount, I love that the overall well being of the patient is the key.  By combining massage with chiropractic not only resolves current issues but will help as a prevention in the future.

Such an innovative and open minded attitude to combining two professions for the benefit of the client is very refreshing and unfortunately quite rare, this highlights the clinics commitment to providing long lasting results.

It is very satisfying working with such a wide range of clients and I am very proud to be working within a team of caring professionals.
